This experiment had been caried out on allelopathy effect of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) residues on potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) at the Hortikultural Research Institute-Lembang. The results showed that sunflower residues gave allelopathy effect to the growth and potatoes yield. Parts of sunflower gave different allelopathy effect, but statistically were not significant.
Allelopathy effect was also correlated to the concentration of residues. Residues of 2, 5% and 5,0% (w/w) gave no significant effect, but the effect of 7,5% and 10% residues were highly significant to the plant height, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weight and total yield of potatoes tuber. The soil that had been planted by sunflower gave no allelopathy effect to the growth and yield of potatoes tuber. Chlorogenic acid (an allelochemical substance) was detected from the leaf, stem and root of sun-flower. By Komir Kurniawan; E-mail Administratorinfo@lib.itb.ac.id
