The objective of this experiment was to find out a promising clone rose which was ready to be released as a new variety.Hybridization using selected mother plant roses and selection of F1 clones at first and second step were done in Plant Research International, Holland, since 1997 to 1999. At second step were selected 65 promising clones that was tranfered to Indonesia for adaption testing at KP Cipanas from 2000 to 2002. The results indicated that clone Balithi NI>97.030.-12 has a unique curly petal which is different from cv. Tineke, megawati and akito. Number of petals of clone NI.97.030-12 is much different from tineke, megawati and akito. The curly petal edge with high petal number and sturdy flower neck made visual flower performance of clone NI.97.030-12 become good and attractive. The color of the clone is greenish light yellow which is different from tineke (greenish white), megawati (red) and akito (white). Vase life tends so be longer than tineke, megawati, and akito. The clone has total stem length, number of flower/ plant/ month, flower diameter not different from tineke, megawai , but has different stem length from akito. Clone NI.97.030-12 was released as anew variety of cut rose named mega putih. Keyword : Rosa hybridus Crosing; Clone; Variety.
